Envisioning the Future: From Communication to Mediation and Relational Robots
We are excited to announce the return of everyone’s beloved social robot, Haru, to Tokyo for the second edition of Haru Fest, taking place from May 8-10, 2024. Building on the success of Haru Fest 2022, which drew the participation of over 100 academics, engineers, and writers from across the globe, this year’s event is poised to be even more inclusive and entertaining.
The focal point of Haru Fest 2024 will revolve around envisioning the future of communication robots. Participants will engage in dynamic discussions centered on designing these robots, placing a significant emphasis on empathy that facilitates seamless integration into society and mediation that enhances interpersonal connections. Talks, panels, and active collaboration sessions will explore the meaningful application of AI in the creation of empathetic communication robots, including philosophical and social perspectives, hardware and software design, and real-world use-cases and scenarios. We welcome your participation on these topics!
Haru Fest 2024’s four main themes will be:
1. Philosophical, psychological, and social perspectives on Mediation and Relational Robots
2. Perception, Human Understanding, and AI in Human-Robot Interaction
3. Design from Hardware to Interaction
4. Applications and Use Cases (Education/Schools and Care Facilities/Hospitals)
This gathering presents a distinctive opportunity for attendees to connect with peers, encouraging collaboration and the exchange of valuable ideas and research findings. Stay tuned for updates on the program, and get ready to meet Haru in its new and improved form!
